When we think of sharing the gospel, many of us think of The Harvest Crusades, or Billy Graham, or maybe even someone who forces conversations that others may not want to have. What many us probably don’t think is “Oh yeah, I’m really good at that.”
But we were commissioned to do it anyway. The good news is… you’re probably already good at evangelism, and you don’t always have to be weird about it.
Devotional of The Month
You’re probably already a (really effective) Evangelist
By Theodore McFarland

`
The follower of Christ has made a serious commitment to God: to trust Him, obey Him, and pursue Jesus Christ with their life. We can easily boil it down to “You died for me, so I will live for You.” We’re also
But if we’re honest, many of us give more thought, passion, and energy to hobbies, entertainment, sports, or personal interests than we do give to God.
That doesn’t mean those things are bad. God isn’t asking us to enjoy good things less. The issue is that our priorities are prone to slipping out of place.
Think about the things you genuinely love. What do people associate you with?
For me, it’s specialty pour-over coffee. I bring coffee gear into the office. When I travel, I pack a hand grinder and even a custom tool I fabricated so that I can make good coffee wherever I go. People notice, and they ask questions. Conversations happen naturally because my passion and enjoyment of coffee “leaks” into everyday life.
That’s a helpful picture of evangelism.
One definition of evangelism is “fervent advocacy of a cause.” I’ve never walked around telling people they were wrong for drinking Folgers (don’t get me started). I simply enjoy something in a visible way, and that curiosity opens the door for conversation.
Jesus told us in Matthew 28 to “go and make disciples of all nations.” One of the clearest ways to share the Gospel is to genuinely live in the joy, peace, and transformation Christ gives us.
APPLICATION
So first, identify “your coffee.” It might be Golf, or Hunting, or a Sports Team - you naturally invest time, energy, money, and attention into. You’re almost definitely a great evangelist for it!
Now ask yourself: what would it look like to pursue God with that same intentionality?
You might be surprised to find that you have already mastered the skills you can translate to your walk with God, when you actually treat Him the same way you treat your favorite things.
Pray and ask The Lord to give you a hunger for His presence: He loves to do that. The best part is — as you probably already know — passion frows where your investment does.
You’re about to become a full-blown Evangelist!
